Behind the Lens at 1-Alfaro: An Intimate Singapore Wedding Day

A couple of weeks ago, I got to photograph a wedding at 1-Alfaro. It was actually my very first time shooting around this area, and I was really looking forward to seeing what the space felt like in person.

When couples talk to me about hilltop or elevated spots in Singapore, Mount Faber Peak is usually the first name that pops up. Everyone knows it for those massive, sweeping views over the harbour and the cable cars. 1-Alfaro is quite different. It doesn't have that vast, open horizon, but honestly, that’s kind of what makes it cool. It feels hidden away, a lot quieter, and way more intimate than your typical hotel ballroom.

For this wedding, the couple kept the entire programme indoors. The indoor dining space was great—plenty of natural daylight coming through the glass, and because the room isn’t oversized, the energy during dinner was so warm. You could hear everyone laughing, clinking glasses, and chatting without that stiff, cavernous vibe of a large hall.

That said, as a photographer, I couldn't help feeling a tiny bit of regret that we didn't do any outdoor portraits.

While scouting the area before the ceremony started, I noticed how beautiful the outdoor pocket spaces were. The surrounding greenery catches the light so nicely in the late afternoon. Between 6:00 PM and 6:45 PM, you get this really soft, warm golden glow that would make an outdoor solemnisation look stunning. Exchanging vows out there just as the sun dips, and then walking inside together for dinner and drinks? That would be such a vibe.

Because it's still quite an uncommon spot, it hasn't been photographed to death like many other popular venues here.
